Cycle Safety
I’m a fan of cycling: both as a commuter and for recreation. But I’m frustrated that cycling on our roads is not as safe as it could be.
More must be done to make our streets safer. Safer streets mean lives saved, but also better lives lived. A cycle-friendly city would see a healthier, happier community.
Cycle safety is back in focus. I’m pleased the DCC has decided to confront the issue.
I’ve received increased correspondence in the time since Dr Li Hong’s tragic death on our one-way traffic system late last year. Several near-misses have been brought to my attention. I confess, I felt a chill down my spine when I first realised that Dr Hong’s death fell exactly two years to the day after I’d published an unapologetic article advocating and anticipating change that has not yet come.
